The Effervescent Anajahela
Just Fabulous Belly Dance
After getting her BFA in Theatre from Southwest
Texas State University (now Texas State University-
San Marcos), Anajahela moved to north Texas and
in short order discovered belly dance.  Anajahela
has studied with reputable local instructors Jessica
Dawn, Erindira, Hayati, Gitane, and Rory Williams.
She has also taken classes with such notables as
Aziza, Jihan Jamal, and Horacio & Beata Cifuentes.

Anajahela uses belly dance to help maintain a
strong body, flex her creative muscles, and express
her inner Diva.  Anajahela has danced for audiences
in Dallas, Fort Worth, Austin, San Antonio, and many
points in between.  While she enjoys the earthier
styles, her heart belongs to Egyptian and Turkish
cabaret styles of belly dance.
She recently began
studying East Indian forms of dance with her teacher Lalitha Sivanisan.

Anajahela started teaching belly dance through the University of North
Texas' Minicourses Office but now focuses

on private lessons and custom choreo-
graphy when not practicing with the troupe.

When she is not dancing or teaching,

Anajahela is a not-so-mild-mannered
secretary for the University of North Texas.
